Roadwork To Begin at Intersection to CSM Prince Frederick Campus

Improvements to J.W. Williams Road at Route 231 May Cause Traffic Delays

The College of Southern Maryland has been advised that scheduled road work on Route 231 and J. W. Williams Road, the road that leads to the college’s Prince Frederick Campus, will begin on or around May 11. When completed, the project will improve traffic flow in the area.

According to Calvert County Government, motorists may experience traffic delays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. and are encouraged to take alternate routes if possible. The project is expected to be completed by November 2011. Improvements are to include widening on Route 231 by adding an eastbound left-turn lane at the intersection, widening to extend the dedicated right-turn lane on southbound J.W. Williams Road, resurfacing of Route 231 and J.W. Williams Road and adding centerline rumble strips on Route 231 and permanent signing and pavement marking.

Students and visitors to the campus should allow adequate time to maneuver through construction when arriving for scheduled classes and events.
