CSM’s Pets and Vets Camp Introduces Students to Search Dogs

Students attending the College of Southern Maryland “Vets and Pets” Kids’ College camp were treated to a visit by search and rescue Bloodhounds Millie and Edgar at the Prince Frederick Campus July 27. The husband and wife team of Jim Buckingham and Jan de Regt who founded the non-profit Bay K-9, raised the dogs as puppies to search for people who are lost. de Regt calls Millie “a nose on four legs” for her sense of smell in tracking Sunderland Elementary 4th grader Sophie Skolnick, left, during a demonstration.
