Prince Frederick Campus Hosts Tabletop Exercise to Prepare for 2015 Full-Scale Drill

State, county and regional emergency planners as well as first-responders gathered with College of Southern Maryland administrators, Public Safety and Preparedness Department staff and emergency planning team members Sept. 25 at the College of Southern Maryland Prince Frederick Campus to test and discuss how the region can provide coordinated, prompt and reliable response to an incident that would strike our region.

Welcoming the nearly 100 participants involved in this Southern Region Tabletop Exercise, CSM President Dr. Brad Gottfried said, “This is the beginning of what I know will be an evolving dialogue as we come together and continue to build strong partnerships before an incident happens.” He added, “This is where the true work begins as we collaborate to be better prepared as a region.”

The exercise was presented in partnership with the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) Active Learning and Exercising Branch, with assistance from the exercise planning team including representatives from the college’s Emergency Advisory Group and agency representatives, emergency planners and first-responders from Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties. This group will also work to plan a full-scale, multi-agency, multi-county drill in 2015.
