The Western Charles County Community Association has launched its scholarship program in conjunction with the College of Southern Maryland as part of the association's overall mission to help residents of the area secure quality education. The WCCCA scholarships focus on helping people to take classes that will enhance their current occupation, or begin a new career. That is in keeping with WCCCA's goal of educating, empowering and energizing people to act individually and together to improve their lives and their community, said WCCCA President Brenda Thomas, right, who shared in the applause for WCCCA scholarship recipients Ronise Savoy, center, and Deborah Dotson, left, both of Indian Head, who attended the CSM Foundation scholarship reception Oct. 21 in La Plata.
