The College of Southern Maryland welcomes The Steve Chapin Band to perform at 8 p.m., Jan. 21 at the La Plata Campus, Fine Arts Center, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata.
The music of Harry Chapin lives on with The Steve Chapin Band, whose performances have delighted Harry Chapin fans for more than 15 years. The performance includes popular songs Taxi, Cats in the Cradle, Mr. Tanner, W.O.L.D., Mail Order Annie, Better Place To Be and others, as well as a selection of Steve Chapins tunes including Let Time Go Lightly, featured on the platinum LP Greatest Stories Live.
The Steve Chapin band is comprised of Harry Chapins brother Steve on keyboard and vocals, Big John Wallace on bass guitar and vocals, Howard Fields on drums and Jonathan Chapin and Clark Wallace on guitars. Steve Chapin and Wallace have been making music together since 1955 when they began in Brookyln, NYs Grace Church Boys Choir. In recent years the band has added their sons Jonathan and Clark on guitars, adding greater musical latitude to both the Chapins tunes.
The concert rekindles memorable evenings of story-songs that Harry Chapin and the band brought 30 years ago.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors, military members or youth in high school or below. Tickets may be purchased as gifts for others. Seating is reserved, call early for best seating options. For information and tickets, contact firstname.lastname@example.org, 301-934-7828, or www.csmd.edu/arts.
