Spend an Evening With Area’s Most Engaging Authors at CSM’s La Plata Campus, Dec. 7

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) invites the public to spend an evening with some of the most engaging and interesting authors in literature when local contributors to CSM’s Fall 2018 Connections Literary Magazine read and reflect on their published works Friday, Dec. 7. Published twice a year, the Connections journal features poems, stories, artwork and photography.

For two decades, the Connections Literary Series has featured writers such as National Book Award winners, Tim O’Brien and Robert Stone; Pulitzer Prize winning poets, Yusef Komunyakaa and Henry Taylor; and Poets Laureate Lucille Clifton, Michael Glaser and Kay Ryan.

Connections readings offer the Southern Maryland community not only the chance to hear and meet established writers, but also emerging local writers. Contributors to this fall’s Connections include Patrick Allen, Judy Angelheart, Elaine Batty, Liane Beckley, Stephen Michael Berberich, Melissa Braun, James Burd Brewster, Randolph Bridgeman, Sherbie Carson, Heather Christian, Michelle Christian, Thomas Donahue, Megan A. C. Ellis, Chaunte Garrett, Brooke Gatton, Camille Harris, Rachel Heinhorst, Dahlia Jackson, Robin Karis, Alan King, Michele Lacroix, Kate Lassman, Raisa Lees, Angela Mroz, John Murry, Diane Payne, Iqura Rehman, Joseph Sanchez, Donna Sperry, Richard Taylor, Jeanne-Marie Tchoumak, Paul Toscano, Joanne Van Wie, Karly Wiley and Christopher Wilkins.

The literary reading will begin at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7 at CSM’s La Plata Campus, Center for Business & Industry (BI Building), Rooms 103-104. No tickets are required and the event is free.

The Connections Literary Series is sponsored by the college’s English, Communication and Languages Division, and in part by the Arts Council of Calvert County, the Charles County Arts Alliance, the St. Mary’s County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council.
