
Author Michael Kauffman Discusses Lincoln Assassination, Conspiracies
The Southern Maryland Civil War Roundtable (SMCWR) will host a presentation by Michael Kauffman, political historian and author of best-seller American Brutus: John Wilkes Booth and the Lincoln Conspiracies. The presentation will be at 7 p.m., April 14 at CSMs Center for Business and Industry (BI), Chaney Enterprises Conference Room BI-113, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata.
A graduate of the University of Virginia, Kauffman has studied the Lincoln assassination for more than 30 years. He has taken a full-immersion approach to his research by revisiting key locations in Booths infamous escape route.
In addition to his best-selling book, Kauffman has written for Civil War Times, the Washington Post, American Heritage, Blue and Gray, and the Lincoln Herald. He has appeared in more than 20 documentaries, including programs on A&E, the Learning Channel, the History Channel and the National Geographic Channel.
Kauffman has served as guide for the Surratt House Museum John Wilkes Booth Escape Route Tour and has lectured throughout the U.S. In 1995, he was called to testify as an expert witness in the Booth exhumation hearings.
