The St. Charles Children’s Learning Center at the College of Southern Maryland (CLC) 2011 graduating class celebrated their achievements during a commencement ceremony, June 10. Nineteen students were recognized during the ceremony and received diplomas of completion from the CLC.

Lynn Duff, director of the CLC, opened the ceremony by welcoming family, friends and offering congratulations to the graduates. Duff also thanked the teachers of the 3-year-old and 4-year-old classes, Steve Rubin and Kirsten Knokey, and of the pre-kindergarten class, Nicole Price, aide Shelbi Warren and Evelin Iraheta, who were instrumental in teaching Spanish to the children in both classes.

Additional presentations were given by Price and Warren in the pre-kindergarten class. A final presentation by CSM President Dr. Brad Gottfried included a handshake and diploma to each of the graduates.

Celebrating its fifth anniversary where learning is child's play, the Children's Learning Center nurtures and enhances the lives of children and their parents by creating an environment that helps children interact with their world and peers, and building confidence, self-esteem and a life-long love of learning.
