Recognized for Teaching Excellence. As Top 25 Woman Professor

When it comes to academic excellence, Dr. Mary Beth Klinger is rated among the highest in her field. Not only has she been honored by her peers with the College of Southern Maryland’s Faculty Excellence Award, but also Klinger has been recognized by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) with the 2013 Teaching Excellence Award for the Eastern Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP Region 2) as well as by Online Schools Maryland as one of its Top 25 Women Professors.
“We couldn’t be more proud of Dr. Klinger being recognized for the academic excellence she provides her students each and every day. She reflects the commitment to excellence that is demonstrated by CSM’s faculty, encouraging our students to attain their goals, both in the classroom and in life. Our students overwhelmingly describe our professors as available, helpful and sympathetic, and Dr. Klinger is one example of this commitment to promoting student success and helping students become involved and engaged in the process of their own learning,” said CSM President Dr. Brad Gottfried.
The ACBSP recognizes individuals annually from each of its 10 regions who exemplify teaching excellence in the classroom. Klinger will be honored, along with other regional recipients, at the 2013 ACBSP Annual Conference, June 21-24 in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a regional recipient, Klinger will be considered for the 2013 ACBSP International Teaching Excellence Award, to be announced in June.
As one of the Top 25 Women Professors in Maryland recognized by Online Schools Maryland, Klinger is acknowledged for her interests in International Business and Management and Business Strategy. The Online Schools Maryland excellence award recognizes her for “Outstanding Contributions to Teaching; Curriculum and Professional Development; College Community and the Community at Large.”
Klinger has taught a variety of business classes at CSM: management, marketing, entrepreneurship and small business management. She has earned two master’s degrees, one in international management and one in business administration, and her doctorate in organization and management. She serves on a variety of college committees as well as the faculty mentoring program. She reviews business and economic textbooks for publishers, and she participates in community events, from the robotics competition held yearly at CSM to economic development summits in Charles County.
