The College of Southern Maryland announces the selection of Dorothy Hill as its media relations coordinator in the community relations department. New to the college, Hill brings 20 years of experience writing for local and regional media and the federal government.
I am thrilled to assist the college in showcasing the talent of our faculty, staff and students, the depth and variety of our programs, and the exciting events the college hosts for our Southern Maryland community, Hill said. The college is celebrating 50 wonderful years of student success stories this September and I am honored to be joining CSM as it looks to the future and begins the next 50 years, she added.
Previously, Hill worked as a writer-editor for the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress, in Washington, D.C., where she helped develop materials for the new digital talking book program and wrote annotations for talking-book catalogues used by patrons who are visually impaired. Hill was also a program assistant for Calvert Countys Office on Aging, working with seniors on developing recreational, educational and nutritional programs.
Following her husbands Coast Guard career, Hill worked in media from Cape Cod to Key West, including assignments as deputy editor for Southern Boating Magazine and as a reporter for Newport This Week.
Hill received her bachelors degree in communications with a minor in business from the University of Maryland University College. She lives with her husband and two teenaged sons in Dunkirk, Md.
