Denise Bailey Clark Selected as Executive Director Of Human Resources at CSM

The College of Southern Maryland announces the selection of Denise Bailey Clark as its executive director of human resources. Previously serving as the college’s executive director of diversity and equal opportunity, Clark assumed the human resources position May 26. She will continue working with the diversity and equal opportunity office on an interim basis.

“I am excited about the opportunity to assist the college in providing innovative, customer-friendly Human Resources programs with an emphasis on work-life balance, such as the summer flex time program and programs that emphasize health and wellness. In addition, we are eager to provide employees with on-line access to their information, such as with the ExPress System, new payroll advice that allows employees to view their pay information in real time,” Clark said.

Working to broaden the awareness of diversity and recognize the unique contributions that individual differences provide to our community, Clark has been active with the Charles County “Unity in Community” forums since her arrival at CSM in 2006, and is the chair of the Charles County Blue Ribbon Commission on Diversity and Intergroup Relations

“It is through our understanding and valuing of this diversity that we maximize the unique contributions we all are capable of making as students, employees and members of the community,” Clark said.

Previously, Clark was president and diversity consultant for DBK & Associates, Inc., a human resources consulting, expert witness and executive search firm where she worked with the Bureau of Census to develop its diversity program, as well as with a national recruitment center and as an expert witness for area law firms where she specialized in sexual harassment prevention. Clark was also human resources director for the Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), as well as for Lockheed Martin Information Systems where she was recipient of the President’s Excellence in Achieving Mission Success Award. She served as director of diversity programs for Kaiser Permanente and previously worked at the college as human resources administrator.

Clark received her master’s degree in human resources development from Bowie State University and her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in psychology from Towson State University. She is a certified senior professional in human resources (SPHR) by the Society for Human Resources Management, a certified mediator by the George Mason University/Northern Virginia Mediation Services, an executive coach, and a member of the Board of Resource Connections, Prince George’s chapter.
