The story of Clara and her nutcracker doll has delighted audiences since it premiered in 1892. Accompanied by Tchaikovsky's immortal music, The Nutcracker has been a holiday ritual for American audiences for many years. CSM Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery: Kathryn Myers, Transient Epiphanies. Nov. 17 to Dec. 20. Painter Kathryn Myers focuses on the art, culture and religious traditions of India in her work. She has recently integrated video in her work to explore and convey audio and visual responses to India, particularly the architecture and activities found in sacred spaces. CSM Presents Chautauquas Emily Dickinson. 7 p.m., Dec. 3. A 19th-century American poet, Dickinson exchanged spirited, engaging letters with family and friends, exploring events of her day and addressing intellectual and artistic topics of the time. Although she was a prolific poet, only a dozen of her works were published during her lifetime, with nearly 1,800 published for the first time after her death. Her works are considered among the finest in the English language. This performance is presented in partnership with the Maryland Humanities Council.
