‘Support the Heroes’ Campaign Kicks off at CSM Night at the Ball Park Event

College of Southern Maryland military veteran students and students studying to become first responders scored a win along with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at the Sept. 14 CSM Night at the Ball Park. During the event, the CSM Foundation kicked off its Support the Heroes Campaign which will run through Veteran’s Day. When people donate to the campaign they receive a yellow lapel ribbon.

“As our country pays tribute to those who lost their lives 10 years ago on September 11, the College of Southern Maryland hopes that you will support the CSM Heroes Campaign,” CSM President Dr. Brad Gottfried said to fans attending the game, adding that proceeds from donations for yellow lapel ribbons will fund programs and scholarships. Donation boxes and yellow lapel ribbons are available in CSM college stores on each campus as well as locations throughout Southern Maryland.

Harvey Green, a resident of Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, held the winning CSM Foundation raffle ticket good for the use of a box suite for one home game during the Blue Crabs’ schedule next season. Green plans to bring a host of veterans from the residence to a game next season, he said.
