CSM Receives Workplace Excellence Recognition

The College of Southern Maryland has been recognized for the fourth year as an outstanding organization for its dedication and commitment to employee work-life initiatives by the Alliance for Workplace Excellence. Recognizing Maryland’s top employers at its ‘Workplace Excellence’ Annual Recognition Awards ceremony June 14, the Alliance acknowledged CSM as an employee-friendly company, honoring it with the 2007 Workplace Excellence seal.

The mission of the Alliance is to position workplace excellence as a competitive advantage in the public, private and nonprofit business community by building and recognizing Excellent Places to Work. Through the implementation of workplace excellence strategies such as health and wellness programs, flexible work programs, family friendly initiatives, social responsibility, and growth and learning services, employers create healthy work environments that result in personal and organizational effectiveness.

Award recipients completed a rigorous application process and were judged on their management practices; workplace culture and environment; work-life benefits and practices; flexible work arrangements and time off; learning and development; health and wellness; and, community involvement and corporate citizenship.

CSM has long been recognized for its commitment and service to the Southern Maryland community. Over the years it has steadily increased its health and wellness programs for the public as well as for its employees.
