College is Seven-Time Recipient
The College of Southern Maryland received two awards from the Alliance for Workplace Excellence (AWE) at its annual awards ceremony June 1 in Bethesda where 67 Washington, D.C.-area organizations and more than 600 business executives gathered. A seven-time Workplace Excellence Award recipient, CSM added a 2009 Health and Wellness Trailblazers Award this year.
CSM is one of 61 organizations receiving the Workplace Excellence Award and one of 33 companies to receive the Health and Wellness Trailblazers Award.
Our employees prove their dedication to the college and the community every day whether it is through the extra care and time they give our students, or in their involvement in community causes and projects, said CSM President Dr. Brad Gottfried. As an organization, we want to support and encourage this kind of excellence in our employees by providing a positive work environment. We are very gratified that our efforts are recognized through the Workplace Excellence Award.
We take every opportunity to celebrate employees and their accomplishments, said CSM Director of Human Resources Denise Bailey Clark, adding that the CSM Board of Trustees and President's Council come together with employees to foster that support.
The Workplace Excellence and Health & Wellness Trailblazer Awards highlight organizations that promote professional fulfillment and personal wellness at work, at home and in the community. All award applicants undergo a rigorous assessment process led by an independent review panel of professors, PhD professionals, and doctoral candidates in business, industrial and organizational psychology, and human resources. Workplace Excellence and Health & Wellness Trailblazer award winners demonstrated equal merit in supportive corporate culture and management practices, family and employee friendly policies and practices, strong employee health and wellness initiatives, comprehensive growth and learning opportunities, and demonstration of corporate social responsibility and employee volunteerism.
