CSM Piano Trio To Perform Schumann, Brahms Pieces

Professors, Staff Joined by Community Musicians for Nov. 7 Performance

The College of Southern Maryland’s Piano Trio joins with community musicians to present the bi-annual Faculty Music Showcase at 8 p.m., Nov. 7 at the Prince Frederick Campus, Building B, Multipurpose Room, 115 J.W. Williams Road, Prince Frederick

The trio, which consists of Adina Vallandingham, Jenete St. Clair and Dr. Stephen Johnson, will be joined by clarinetist Takako Mato and violist Bernard Vallandingham in an evening of chamber music by Robert Schumann, Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms.

Robert Schumann was one of the leading composers of Romantic song, piano music, chamber music and symphony. Clara, his wife, was one of the dominant pianists of her day, often premiering her husband's works as well as her own. The Schumanns were mentors to the young Brahms while he was establishing himself as a composer. All three wrote numerous works for piano and strings.

Tickets cost $5 in advance and $7 the day of the event. For information about this event as well as ensemble combination tickets, contact the Box Office at bxoffc@csmd.edu, 301-934-7828 or visit www.csmd.edu/Arts.
