Renowned Italian Pianist to Perform May 29

The College of Southern Maryland will host a performance by renowned Italian pianist Francesco Attesti beginning 8 p.m., May 29 in the Fine Arts Center Theater on the La Plata Campus, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata.

Born in Cortona, Italy, Attesti qualified at the Conservatory of Music Luigi Cherubini in Florence and continued his studies at the Sommerakademie Mozarteum in Salzburg and Rome with Sergio Perticaroli, the Gubbio Festival with Jacques Rouvier, and in Florence with Hector Moreno.

Attesti’s performance will consist of piano classics as well as the world premiere of “From Afar” and “In the Meanwhile” by Italian-born composer Raffaello Amabile. The performance is sponsored in part by the Ballet Arts Academy at the Old Waldorf School. Founded in 2005, the academy provides the community with a dance environment devoted exclusively to the study of classical ballet that follows the Vaganova method of training and its related arts.
