CSM Holds First All-College Convocation, Marks 10 Years as Regional College

College of Southern Maryland Admissions Director Jeri Crews tosses a Frisbee into the crowd for giveaways to faculty and staff from each campus awaiting the beginning of CSM’s first All-College Convocation at the La Plata Campus on Aug. 20. The event brought together faculty and staff from each campus and facility to kick-off the academic year.

The College of Southern Maryland held its first All-College Convocation Aug. 20 at its La Plata Campus as it celebrated 10 years as one regional college. CSM is at its highest enrollment ever, serving 44 percent more students in 2010 than in 2000. With six new buildings, three new training centers, and two major building renovations since 2000, CSM has been able to keep pace with its growing student population, increased programs of study and area workforce development needs. An additional center, the Center for Nuclear Energy Training, will open Sept. 21 in Prince Frederick, and on Sept. 28. CSM will dedicate its new Wellness and Aquatics Center on the Leonardtown Campus.
