The College of Southern Marylands Fine Arts Department is holding open auditions beginning at 6 p.m., Nov. 17-18 for its upcoming winter productions. These performances will take place between Jan. 29 and March 7, 2015.
Treasure Island will be performed Jan. 30-31 in the CSM Fine Arts Theater on the La Plata Campus. This play follows the adventures of a 14-year-old boy and his encounter with the infamous Long John Silver.
Adult American Males will be performed on all three campuses between Jan. 29-30 and Feb. 5-7. This production is about four all-American, hard-drinking tough-talking guys and the surprising discovery they make. This production contains strong adult language and content.
For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf will be performed Feb. 19-21 and Feb. 26-28 in the CSM Fine Arts Theater on the La Plata Campus. This groundbreaking “choreopoem” is a spellbinding collection of vivid prose and free verse narratives about and performed by black women.
The Emperors New Clothes will be performed March 6-7 in the CSM Fine Arts Theater on the La Plata Campus. Based on the tale by Hans Christian Andersen, the story follows two weavers who promise an emperor a new suit of clothes that is invisible to those unfit for their positions.
Auditions will be in the Fine Arts Center Theater, located on the La Plata Campus, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. Those auditioning should prepare a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a song with music for the accompanist.
