Members of the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) La Plata Campus Engineering Club decided to do something special for area first responders this holiday season. As a way to show their appreciation, the club hand-made cards and stuffed gift boxes with cookies, nuts, snacks and teas and delivered the gifts to the volunteer men and women of the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department, the law enforcement officers at the La Plata Police Department and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, and to CSM’s Public Safety Officers.
“While visiting the firehouse, CSM Engineering Club members were given a tour, were challenged to work with some of the heavy apparatus and attempted to get in and out of firefighting gear in 45 seconds or less,” shared Pre-Engineering Program Coordinator and Engineering Club Adviser Jehnell Linkins. “I think everyone had a great visit and enjoyed the spirit of the season. We are all truly grateful for every one of our first responders in Southern Maryland.”
