CSMs Tony Hungerford Memorial Gallery: Herman Maril. Jan. 19 Feb. 25, Mondays through Fridays, noon to 5 p.m. and during fine arts events at the CSM Fine Arts Center. College of Southern Maryland, La Plata Campus, Tony Hungerford Memorial Gallery, Fine Arts Building, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. Works from the University of Maryland, University Colleges Herman Maril (1908-1986) collection will be on display. A native of Baltimore who trained at the Maryland Institute, Maril taught painting at the University of Maryland from 1930 to 1980. His paintings, which combine abstract and modern geometric aspects with nature and landscape elements, are featured in the Phillips Collection, the Smithsonians American Art Museum, the Corcoran Gallery, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.
