The CSM Salsa Festival wraps up with Nuyorican-style salsa band Bio Ritmo. Bio Ritmo will spice things up with a blend of Afro-Cuban and Puerto Rican beats, soul-searching lyrics and intricate jazz harmonies. CSM Gallery: “Surface Tensions,” New Work by Hunt Prothro. March 2 – April 6. 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mon. – Fri. and during Fine Arts events, College of Southern Maryland, La Plata Campus, Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. Washington, D.C. resident and nationally showcased artist Hunt Prothro has taught pottery at Sidwell Friends School for over 30 years. His pottery demonstrates a unique blend of color and texture on ancient forms in which the solidity of mass and weightlessness merge. Prothro says he works, “as a poet works within a narrow, but mythic form, open to the nuances of a conscious hand.” Prothro will discuss his work during a gallery talk and reception, March 13 at noon.
