Question: Where did Jeopardy! Contestant Get His Collegiate Start?
As a homeschooled student, Craig Cornish, 23, wanted to prove himself academically while satisfying his curiosity in identifying his lifes passion. It was my hope that I would emerge [after two years of college] with a clearer sense of what I wanted to do, said Cornish.
Now, members of the Southern Maryland community are curious to see how well the local academic and graduate of the College of Southern Maryland does on Dec. 6 when he appears on the television game show Jeopardy!.
Cornish graduated from CSM with highest honors in May 2011 earning an associates degree in arts and sciences. He transferred to Morgan State University where he earned a bachelors degree in history. He is currently enrolled in the history Ph.D. program at Princeton University.
CSM gave me the opportunity to sample widely and to flesh out my academic interests. It provided me with a venue to showcase my abilities, directly enabling me to secure a full-ride scholarship at Morgan State for the rest of my undergraduate education. And, of course, it allowed me to earn over 60 hours of college credit at an affordable cost, said Cornish.
When I was asked during my Jeopardy audition how I would spend any money I should be lucky enough to win, I didnt have to reply, student loans. Thats thanks, in great part, to CSM, said Cornish.
