CSM Theater Company Announces Cast for ‘Pirates of Penzance,’ Nov. 11-13, 18-20

The College of Southern Maryland’s Theater Company presents its cast for the fall production of “Pirates of Penzance,” a musical written by Arthur Sullivan.

Frederic, the central character, having completed his 21st year, is released as an apprentice to a band of tender-hearted pirates. He meets Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley, and the two young people fall instantly in love. Frederic discovers, however, that he was born on February 29, and so, technically, he only has a birthday each leap year. His apprenticeship indentures state that he remains apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday, and so he must serve for another 63 years. Mabel agrees to wait for him faithfully.

CSM’s cast includes Kenneth Waters Jr. as Frederic and Jasimine Felder as Mabel, both of Waldorf.  John Scheer, of Waldorf, plays Major General Stanley.

Also appearing on stage will be Robert K. Rausch as The Pirate King, Carol Charnock as Ruth the Pirate Maid, and Rami Essa as Sergeant of Police, all from Waldorf, with the police officers played by Mitchell Landon of La Plata, and John Van Blarcom and Alexis Crooks of Waldorf. Alex LaClair of Waldorf plays Samuel, Lieutenant of the Pirate King.

Mabel’s sisters are played by Amanda Wegand, Deidre Locklear and Pat McConkey, all of Waldorf, and Anna Bonnet of White Plains; Amanda Hamilton, Mia McCaslin, Sara Cauler and Liz Wilson of La Plata; Lindsey Norris of Leonardtown; Jennifer Robertson of Mechanicsville and Alyshia Bradley of Lusby.

The pirates are played by Brian Taylor, Ricky Jenkins and Alonzo Hatton, of Waldorf; Jennifer Nuñez of Prince Frederick and Greg Kenney of Accokeek.

Performances are Nov. 11-13 and Nov. 18-20 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for youth/seniors. CSM staff and students may contact the Box Office for advance purchase discount. For information, contact bxoffc@csmd.edu, 301-934-7828, or http://www.csmd.edu/arts.
