CSM Promotes “Support the Heroes Campaign” at Leonardtown Veterans Day Parade. 10 a.m., Nov. 11, Leonardtown Square, Leonardtown. The College of Southern Maryland will join the Town of Leonardtown and the Board of County Commissioners for St. Mary’s County for their annual Veterans Day Parade held in cooperation with VFW Post 2632. The parade will begin at St. Mary’s Ryken High School and will conclude with a Veterans Memorial Ceremony in the town square with patriotic music and laying of wreaths. CSM volunteers will be on-site collecting donations for CSM’s “Support the Heroes Campaign,” which began in Sept. 11 and will conclude Nov. 11. The campaign benefits a scholarship fund developed to support students studying to become first responders and veterans whose benefits changed effective Aug. 1 as a part of the Veterans Affairs Yellow Ribbon Campaign. CSM will also collect donations online, uniting with hundreds of non-profits in a massive 24-hour “Give to the MAX” online fundraising day, Nov. 9, in an effort to generate millions of dollars.
