College of Southern Maryland Professor and artist Larry Chappelear is exhibiting his Impasto Series in CSMs Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery located in the Fine Arts Center on the La Plata Campus, through Oct. 10. Chappelear's primary concerns for the new work is to simplify the forms within each painting by being less concerned with detail and more concerned with larger colorful shapes that provide suggestions of detail. The paint is applied heavily to look like paint while still maintaining a realistic appearance of the landscape.
