CSM Dean Timothy Keating Recalls Bob Dylan’s Poetics During Friday Night Lecture Series

Calendar

The lyrics and music of rock icon and prolific songwriter Bob Dylan will be explored during the College of Southern Marylands Friday Night Lecture Series, which is debuting this semester at each of the colleges campuses. The March lecture will feature Bob Dylan: Poetics of Love, Anger and Doom, presented by CSM Dean of Arts and Sciences Dr. Timothy Keating at 7 p.m., March 9 at the Leonardtown Campus, Building A, Auditorium.

Born in 1941, Dylan is considered one of the most important figures in contemporary folk and rock music, establishing his reputation in the 1960s through social protest songs such as Blowin in the Wind and The Times They Are A-Changin and more recently with Grammy Award winning albums and an Oscar in 2000 for Things Have Changed.

CSMs Friday Night Lecture Series is free, open to the public and features experts from the college discussing various topics. The series rotates among the three campuses and provides an opportunity to build community through enriching discussions. The series continues April 20th on Healthcare in the U.S.: Play Now or Pay Later with presenters Sandy Genrich, chair of the nursing and health technology department, and Bob Schaller, chair of business, economics and legal studies department. The lecture will be at the La Plata Campus, Learning Resources Center, LR102.
