Exhibit Kicks Off New Year of Art Exhibits and Gallery Talks
Artist Erin Wiersmas exhibit Liminal Territories will be on display at the College of Southern Marylands Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery on the La Plata Campus, Jan. 26 through March 20. Wiersma will discuss her work at a Gallery Talk at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 29.
Wiersmas exhibit work explores what exists beyond the image itself. In her drawings, she addresses the process involved in actually creating art as well as the confluence between the spiritual and material aspects of it. Wiersma believes that as she creates her work, the pieces reveal themselves to her, thus forming her.
In a sense, her new pieces find her traveling to works within works. Where earlier works sought to go beyond normal time, pieces from Liminal Territories aim to go within and beneath time.
The gallery is located in the Fine Arts Building, with hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both the gallery and the gallery talk are free to attend.
