New Driver Car Control/Defensive Driving Skills. Sept. 19-21 or Nov. 21-23. College of Southern Maryland, Industrial Training Center, 5825 Radio Station Road, La Plata. CSM is partnering with The New Driver Car Control Clinic® to provide a new series of defensive driving classes to beginning drivers and their parents. The course is uniquely designed for students and their parents to develop defensive driver skills and accident avoidance maneuvers together. The clinic also features hands-on, behind-the-wheel training sessions that utilize a training range to re-create wet weather driving, sudden breaking and other hazardous driving conditions. Alive at 25 is a behavior modification course that brings students into contact with law enforcement officials in a highly interactive role-playing environment that encourages students to take responsibility for their actions behind the wheel and to form their own opinions on how to handle peer pressure, driving distractions, speed and the effects of drugs and alcohol on driving capability.
