The Maryland Junior College (MDJUCO) Athletic Conference honored five conference performers with Student-Athlete of the Month awards for September. Among those recognized was second-year College of Southern Maryland soccer goalie Kelsey Major of Waldorf. Major was a brick wall in goal for the Hawks, according to MDJUCO officials. Her goals-against average is 2.07 while making 34 saves. In a seven-game stretch at the end of September, Major allowed only seven goals, including shutouts for Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Frederick Community College. “We are happy that Kelsey is being recognized by our conference. She is an excellent goalie, team leader and is very deserving of this honor,” said CSM Student Life and Athletics Lead Director Michelle Ruble. As of Oct. 8, the Hawks are 8-3-1 on the season.
