Beach Inspires CSM’s Chappelear in Her Pottery

College of Southern Maryland Professor and artist Sue Chappelear is exhibiting her pottery “Currents” in CSM’s Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery located in the Fine Arts Center on the La Plata Campus through Jan. 23. Chappelear explained during a recent gallery talk that she takes her inspiration for her current collection from her love of the beach. Many of her pieces reflect the waves and the sand through texture and color. This year’s gallery shows are featuring the work of CSM faculty. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
