‘You Can Afford College’ Workshops

CSM Presents Solutions for Parents, Students to Realize Higher Ed Goals

The College of Southern Maryland is presenting financial aid events at each of its campuses to help students and parents learn how they can meet the challenges of paying for college. The “You Can Afford College” workshops will feature financial aid experts who will present student profiles at several Maryland colleges and universities—and information to find state, federal and private financial aid dollars.

“Students say that one of their biggest concerns and possible setbacks to attending college is finding a way to finance it,” said CSM Director of Financial Assistance George Bachman. “Through this program, we want to show students and parents how to make financing college possible,” added Bachman.

In February, workshops on filling out the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) forms will be offered at each campus. Attendees are required to bring financial records to the workshop.

The financial assistance information sessions begin at 6 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the La Plata Campus, Jan. 28 at the Leonardtown Campus and Jan. 29 at the Prince Frederick Campus.

The FAFSA workshops are from 1 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the La Plata Campus and from 3 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 16 at both the Leonardtown and Prince Frederick campuses.

Both of the workshops are free but require reservations. Make your reservation online at www.csmd.edu/Financial/.
