CSM Faculty, Staff Receive National Internet Technology Communications Awards

Faculty and staff from the College of Southern Maryland were honored with national, regional and state Internet Technology Communications awards for their three-week online course, “The ABCs of Nutrition and Health, “ which targets childcare professionals and parents of children infants to 5 years old. The awards recognize excellence in web-based programs, courses or web pages. Presented by The National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences, the awards are shared with the University of Maryland Cooperative Extension Service.

“The idea for the course sprung up from CSM’s Continuing Education Division based on input from early childhood education experts,” said CSM Chair of Distance Learning and Faculty Development Sue Subocz. “We partnered with the University of Maryland to develop a course that would feature some of our best multimedia components such as video, interactive lessons created by our staff and interactive self-check quizzes.”
