
Women + Math Event Brings Girls Age 13-21Together with Successful Women
The College of Southern Maryland will host its sixth Women + Math career exploration event for girls ages 13 to 21 on Saturday, October 16 at the La Plata Campus Center for Business and Industry. The event gives participants an opportunity to hear from women who have successful careers in fields that draw heavily on math such as health science, computer science, architecture, civil engineering, physics, meteorology and cyber security.
The day includes hands-on workshops, breakfast and lunch, career panel discussion and a keynote address by Maryland State Delegate Sally Jameson.
Workshops for math and science teachers as well as information for parents who want to encourage their daughters to pursue math-related careers will also be a part of the event.
