
More Than $2,500 Raised for Cancer Research, Scholarships
Braving the first bitter cold day of the season, more than 130 participants in the College of Southern Marylands third annual Turkey Trot on Nov. 24 donned hats, gloves, scarves, coats and smiles as they ran the 5k course around the colleges La Plata Campus.
The event raised more than $2,500 for the American Cancer Society and for the Wellness, Fitness and Aquatics Cancer Survivor and Friends Scholarship Fund at CSM.
Trophies were awarded to the top three female and top three male runners, which included for the males first place Chase Collins (17:20), second place Luis Navarro (18:14) and third place Colin Richardson (20:40). For the females, first place went to Jacqueline Clark (20:00), second place to Erin Gormley (21:30) and third place to Lesley Williams (23:05).
