Funds Support Tech Prep Program, Tri-County Articulation Agreements
The College of Southern Maryland has been awarded $181,602 as part of the Division of Career Technology and Adult Learning (DCTAL) grant from the Maryland State Department of Education to continue efforts to enhance approved career programs offered through the colleges Tech Prep program.
The Tech Prep program, coordinated by CSM for more than 20 years, is a way for students to begin a technical course of study while still in high school. Tech Prep courses are taught in the high school and can be applied toward college credit at CSM.
These courses coordinate high school and community college programs so that graduates get the technical knowledge and skills required in today's workplace, said CSM Lead Grants Development Specialist Becky Cockerham.
Tech Prep students complete a planned sequence of courses in high school, which articulate to CSM and can be applied to designated letters of recognition, certificates and associate of applied science degrees in a career field.
