Diversity Institute at CSM Coordinates a Community Conversation
The Diversity Institute at the College of Southern Maryland is presenting A Community Conversation: Searching for Justice and Understanding from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Sept. 18 at South Potomac Church, 4915 Crain Highway, White Plains.
This Community Conversation is intended to engage our community, especially youth, parents and community leaders to come together to examine our own community, to ask questions, share feedback and, ultimately, gain a deeper understanding of how we can work together to ensure justice for all, said CSM Institutional Equity and Diversity Executive Director Makeba Clay.
The event will be moderated by South Potomac Church Pastor Dave Huffman, a member of CSMs Diversity Advisory Council, and will include a panel with local law enforcement officials, civic leaders, educators and students.
We want to provide members of the community an opportunity to explore and discuss the intersection of race, public policy and the law in the wake of Ferguson and similar tragedies that have impacted our community and the nation, said Clay.
Light refreshments will be offered starting at 6:30 p.m., with the panel discussion to start at 7 p.m.
